New towels and Crab legs....

So this is why "fun" with laundry doesn't fly in my house.....

Yes, those are my "under garments" AKA undies put in the kitchen towel drawer. Imagine my surprise when I went to dry my hands with a new towel.....Thanks Mark.

Also we received a present today.....

10 lbs of King Crab legs!!! Yum...

The boys were amazed and wanted to sword fight with them- they are very pointy and lethal looking after all , I can see why that thought crossed their minds- but I explained we could cook them and eat them with butter. Mark said " peanut butter?" That thought alone made me shudder- imagine crab legs dipped in peanut butter. gross....

Christmas break is how long????

Seriously, we are on day two of Christmas break and I'm already longing for school days.....why can't Christmas fall during summer months when the boys can ride bikes, dig holes or climb trees?

We have implemented a no tattling rule....no tattling unless life or limb is threatened or blood is showing. I DO NOT care that Mark called you a whiny 7 year old and has made up a diddy about you ( of which I have to say is pretty imaginative and actually quite entertaining). I DO NOT care that Mark threw his pee pee pull up at you ( ok, I do care about that one but deal with it). I DO NOT care that Ryan keeps stealing your juice box ( quit putting it in his face already). I DO NOT care that Matthew looked at your strawberries and said his were bigger. I could go on and on.......Oh wait Mark is coming in to "tell" me something. Sigh....There had better be blood or broken bones.....

and as a side note : I know they are bored- this is why they are driving me batty. We have done crafts out my ears, we have popped popcorn and watched movies, we have done workbook pages, we have read books, we baked cookies, we have built forts ( this one I wouldn't recommend because they are all for it until you tell them that the bed sheets have to go back on the bed and can't stay in the living room all afternoon). I even attempted to have some "fun" with laundry but they quickly caught on and revolted. I am bored too.....and outta ideas.

I didn't do it mom....

The boys slept with me last night- usually I love this because as they get bigger this happens less- but last night for some reason they both decided to forget all their potty training skills. No joke- both boys, in the same bed, with me in it. There is nothing like coming awake to a 5 and 7 year old arguing over who wet the bed, looking down and realizing your own shirt is suspiciously damp and seeing the clock read 2 am. Sorry moms but I'm gonna be honest here and say I DID NOT change the sheets all the way at 2 am- we slept on towels with the boys stripped down to undies (ok, Mark was in a pull up but can you blame me? It IS Mark....). My sheets are fluffing as we speak and the boys are still looking at me like I'm speaking Japanese when I ask them why they both wet the bed last night. "huh? We didn't do it mom.....Ryan must have spilled the glass of water there....." Likely story, likely story.....

On a side note- The little boy who spilled water or is blamed for everything AKA Ryan slept till 830 am today!!! That never happens and I had to keep sneaking in to make sure he was breathing :) When do we stop worrying any way?

How to play in the snow without actually going OUT in the snow.....

meanwhile.....
this one misses out....which in the grand scheme might be a good thing. He tends to be accident prone....

Cake Bosses we are not.....

Matthew, Mark and I must work on our decorating skills. Matt said it looked like the whole house was crying and I just kept chanting " its not about being perfect, its about having fun and using our imaginations". Mark said his imagination wasn't working because the house just didn't look pretty no matter how hard he looked at it.

Something here doesn't belong.....

hmmmm what could it be?

round one....

round two....

Thank goodness Chad's not around or Tiger, the "stray" cat, may have some problems....

ok seriously???

Round three and I'm beginning to think the cat, dog and kids are all in on it together....this cat can't just be "accidentally" getting in three times in one day! Hmmmm.....

Scout, our Elf on a shelf, found a new hiding spot.....

and Mark is convinced he's smiling much bigger today and his cheeks are even more "happy". He says its because he's near Jesus. Matthew says he looks the same as he has everyday.....but I find him sneaking over once in awhile just to peek ( on the sly of course :) ).

Strep throat and Check ups....

Last night Matthew woke up with a fever and said his throat hurt. Fabulous right? I dosed him with motrin and decided to take him along to Ryan's 18 mos check up appointment in the morning ( yes Ry is 19 mos- we should be glad I'm only a month behind guys- seriously). Sure enough he's got strep. This isnt a horrible thing in my opinion because some amox will kill those bugs fast and theres a nasty, nasty virus going around that lasts about 10 days and you cant do anything for ( no thank you!!!).

Onto Ryan. Hes perfect- 24 pds and he grew ( I cant remember how much- its written down I think) He's 70% for height and 30% for weight- his head is gigantic but thats par for the course in this Ellis family. He's finally growing into his bobble head though -Thank the stars.

The highlight of the dr appt was when I stripped Ryan down and saw marker all over his legs- what the heck? How embarrassing- I mean do I bathe this kid? Matt looks at me and says " mark did it and good thing I didnt have to take off my clothes" ummmm? Ok I'll bite...."why Matthew?" "Mark colored my legs too" Fabulous.....I have a mini Picasso who likes to draw on his brothers.....

Please notice the decorated legs on the first pic....all in all a good appt.

snow day

Yesterday was our first official school is out "snow day". I had a huge schedule planned that included Christmas baking, ornament making, snow fort building and cleaning. The only things I accomplished was ornament making- not completing- and snow play. Reality set in and the glue glitter got to my head and I decided to down scale. Baking can wait till next year and cleaning can wait till never.

I dug out the snow gear- The boys snow pants were WAY too short but doable and the snow boots were MIA. I finally found one pair and decided that the rain boots would work for Mark ( we just tripled his socks). He seemed down with it .... I hadnt thought to include Ry but after much moaning and groaning ( from me) I gave in and bundled him up. We went outside - played for 5 minutes and I drug him back in. It took longer to get him ready than he played. The snow was just too deep and a few faceplants were just too much for us both to handle....they all had loads of fun and Ry slept for 3 1/2 hours after. Inhaling snow was apparently too much for his little system.....

oh and we found the second pair of snow boots. They were in the outside playbox covered with snow. Isnt that a fabulous place to store snowboots? I must really work on my organizational skills....

Whew....much more to this than I thought.....

Hello, hello :) This is my first post on my first blog- after much prompting from friends I am attempting this new blog thing. Its much more involved than I had intitially thought. Bear with me as I play with texts, layouts, colors etc....

So back to the blog. My name is Becky, I'm 33 and have three boys. Matthew- 7, Mark- 5 1/2 and Ryan 19months. I also have a grown up boy named Chad and have been married to him for a little over 10 yrs now. I have a dog named Luke ( yes, we have a Matthew, Mark and Luke. No we dont have a John nor do we plan to have a John. I had thought to name Ryan John just to see if perhaps it would give me a leg up when I meet my maker at the pearly gates but Chad said no. And  no we didnt do it on purpose- it just worked out that way) and lastly we have a "stray" cat named Tiger. Yes he's a boy too- I'm surrounded by testosterone and have given up the fight. I'm resigned at this point to be the only female in my household.

I'm excited to come here and tell my funny stories about my life with my kids. If you have followed me on facebook you know I try to give as many kid QOTD ( quote of the day) as I can, keep you updated on my "stray" cat chronicles and ask for any and all suggestions for effective discipline techniques. I would also like to have "real" talk here, a fun place to get a giggle or even vent a problem. I'm hoping to re post some of my stories and pictures from the boys as they've grown ( for example as a teaser- Mark bathing in the bathroom sink after I told him to go wash up, Mark staying overnight in the hospital because he swallowed a stick, Mark have two lung surgeries and a CAT scan due to an inhaled apple peel ( Marks the MOST fun) and Matthew breaking his elbow 3 days before we left for a beach vacation.....oh the suspense). As I said bear with me and let the games begin......
